GWC CURRENTLY OFFERS THE FOLLOWING SHORT COURSES IN BIBLE AND MINISTRY:

Orientation to Online Studies at GWC
(equivalent to NQF level 5)

Session 1: 22 January 2025
Session 2: 14 July 2025
Fee: None

The purpose of this preparatory unit is to provide you with helpful resources for your online studies at GWC. This will include an introduction to GWC’s learning platform: Canvas. Two sessions of orientation are offered in the year but learners only need to attend one session before your short course begins. You are required to complete this orientation before proceeding to the short courses.

 

    Short course in Biblical Theology – 120 learning hours
    (equivalent to NQF level 5)

    Start on: 5 February 2025
    End on: 20 June 2025

    This Short Course aims to develop the learner’s interpretation of the Bible. 

    The learner will be guided towards the following objectives: 

    • To reflect on issues related to bridging the gap between reading the ancient text of Scripture and receiving it as God’s word for us today. 
    • To consider the importance of understanding the Bible in the way its original authors and readers did, exploring how genre and context work in biblical interpretation. 
    • Ultimately, to develop the skilful use of Biblical Theology as a reliable tool for bridging the gap from the ancient Scriptures to today’s world.

      Short course in Mark’s Gospel120 learning hours
      (equivalent to NQF level 5)

      Start on: 4 August 2025
      End on: 28 November 2025

      This Short Course aims to study Mark’s Gospel so that the learner may become conversant with this foundational Christian text and, thus, a better reader of the Bible. The Course will focus on Mark’s Gospel, the theology that emerges from it, the original context in which it was written and read, and the way in which God continues to speak to his people today through this Gospel.

      Short Course in Teaching and Learning for Higher Theological Education (TALHITE) – 120 learning hours
      (equivalent to NQF level 8))

      Phase 1: 7 – 11 July 2025

      08:30 – 16h00 daily (80% attendance minimum required)

      If you are currently involved in lecturing, tutoring, training, or teaching in Theological Education, this course is for you. Be refreshed and further equipped with other like-minded professionals.

      ACCREDITATION AND RECOGNITION FOR SHORT COURSES

      Short Courses are not accredited and do not lead to qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework. Institutions might consider your learning in these Short Courses towards credit in their institution but you would need to check with the relevant institution.

      When you complete a Short Course, you will receive a certificate of completion stating that you completed the course and the material you covered in the course.
