1 July

As the students enjoy time out over the break, pray that they will be able to rest and recover well for the start of what will be a busy second semester

2 July

College Management is preparing for some smaller classes to return to campus from the start of Semester 2. Pray for wisdom and a smooth transition back as there is much to plan and do before mid-July.

3 July

Please continue to pray for a fundraising consultant for Explore as this is a vital position for the sustainability of Explore beyond 2020.

4 July

Some students are currently studying to write supplementary exams on 21st and 22nd July. Pray that the Lord will encourage their hearts as they study and help

5 July

Alumnus, Robert Mloya, is working in Tanzania, currently finishing a book about tribalism in African churches. Please pray that God will open doors for the book to be published and also for a positive outcome to his request to serve at the Low Church parish.

6 July

Preparing for online lectures entails a lot more work, and lectures online can be less satisfying than in-classroom learning. Pray for faculty as they prepare lectures for Semester 2 and that God’s purpose to prepare his people for the work of ministry will not be thwarted.

7 July

Pray that the Lord will equip us adequately to get the college prepared for all the COVID-19 regulations required by the DHET before the students return.

8 July

GWC’s online Open Day webinar takes place on Saturday
18th July. Pray that it will run smoothly and increase the
reach of our recruitment, assisting in the recruitment of the
student enrolment for 2021.

9 July

Pray for the Registry team as they administer online applications

10 July

Alumnus, Carolyn Gie, requests prayer for calm and peace during the phasing in of the students, which started from 1st July, as the students, teachers, parents and admin staff prepare for a whole new way of educating grade Rs at The Vine Christian School.

11 July

Praise the Lord that he has kept the GWC community in good health. Pray that staff will be wise in social distancing until the virus settles down and that the frontline staff on campus will continue to keep stringent hygienic standards

12 July

Term 3 starts on Monday 13 July. Pray for wisdom and adaptability for faculty, staff and students as GWC continues our academic programme online due to Coronavirus-related issues

13 July

Praise God for the past semester and how he has helped us. The finance team has been able to work from home without interruption and have managed to meet their monthly deadlines. Pray for the Lord’s ongoing help in Semester 2.

14 July

In many ways it is more complicated to lecture online than in a classroom. Pray for the Semester 2 part-time lecturers; that they will quickly adapt to online lectures.

15 July

Pray for continued encouragement of the student body from within the GWC campus community, especially for those students who are struggling with the online format of classes and workloads.

16 July

Alumnus, Kyle Barrow, rector at REACH Summerstrand asks for prayer for them to meet the diverse needs of the community; and that God will enable them to love, serve and reach the community with the true hope of the Gospel.

17 July

Pray for all GWC alumni as they adapt to changes in
ministry and funding owing to COVID-19, that the Lord will increase their faith and trust, and will provide for their needs in these challenging times.

18 July

Pray for our Open Day Children’s Ministry talk today, that prospective Children’s Ministry students will attend this online event and be encouraged to apply.

19 July

The impact of COVID-19 has affected alumnus, Ernest Mulenga, in Zambia as his church was meeting in a school that cannot host church meetings for the foreseeable future. Pray the Lord will provide a suitable venue for their services to resume.

20 July

As the GWC Development team change their modus operandi, pray they might be creative and adapt to new roles and responsibilities as they serve GWC.

21 July

Give thanks for the creative ways that the students are finding to support and encourage each other. Give thanks for the internet and technology that allow students to care for each other ‘virtually’.

22 July

Please pray for the Children’s Ministry students who are staying off-campus, that they would be able to continue their studies with energy and commitment during the lockdown.

23 July

We are busy discussing a change, that our current agreement with one diocese in Uganda for the promotion of Explore be transferred to the central offices of the Church of Uganda, under the authority of the Archbishop. Please pray that the Reserve Bank of South Africa will authorise this change and that this will open the way for Explore to be used more widely as a discipleship tool within the church.

24 July

GWC’s fundraising outreach and events are being
replaced with online events and conversations. Pray these will raise the financial support needed to sustain the operations of the college.

25 July

We thank God for raising up donors for GWC’s COVID19 Emergency Fund which will help GWC continue our operations amid the global economic downturn.

26 July

The new GWC website build is receiving its final touches. Pray that it will be impactful in helping increase the reach and influence of GWC.

27 July

GWC’s fundraising outreach and events are being We are mindful of our witness as God’s family even
when faced by the difficulties presented by COVID-19. Pray that we will remember the foundations on which our faith is built.

28 July

Please pray for the completion of the editing of Explore the World’s Creator, in order that students who have completed all other modules will have time to study this module before graduation in November.

29 July

Alumnus, Jomo Mchunu, who is rector of Christ Church Hillcrest, requests prayer for their community outreach and for church growth despite the limitations of online services due to COVID-19.

30 July

Please pray for phase one of the implementation of the new Explore web page, which will include an online enrolment opportunity for students.

31 July

This lockdown is proving to be very difficult, not just
physically, but also mentally. Pray for mental fortitude and perseverance for all and for the students to continue to find their strength in Jesus.
