Short course in Biblical Theology – 120 learning hours
    (equivalent to NQF level 5)

    Start on: 5 February 2025
    End on: 20 June 2025

This Short Course aims to develop the learner’s interpretation of the Bible.

The learner will be guided towards the following objectives:

    • To reflect on issues related to bridging the gap between reading the ancient text of Scripture and receiving it as God’s word for us today.
    • To consider the importance of understanding the Bible in the way its original authors and readers did, exploring how genre and context work in biblical interpretation.
    • Ultimately, to develop the skilful use of Biblical Theology as a reliable tool for bridging the gap from the ancient Scriptures to today’s world.

Short course in Mark’s Gospel120 learning hours
      (equivalent to NQF level 5)

      Start on: 4 August 2025
      End on: 28 November 2025

This Short Course aims to study Mark’s Gospel so that the learner may become conversant with this foundational Christian text and, thus, a better reader of the Bible. The Course will focus on Mark’s Gospel, the theology that emerges from it, the original context in which it was written and read, and the way in which God continues to speak to his people today through this Gospel.

Short Course in Reading Your Culture – 120 learning hours
      (equivalent to NQF level 5)

      Start on: 5 February 2025
      End on: 20 June 2025

Each day we live out stories about the world and ourselves. In this Course we will learn to look around and become aware of these stories. We will learn to read these stories by identifying and understanding cultural texts and trends. Finally, we will practice the skill of theological reflection by setting these cultural stories within the Bible’s redemptive storyline. The highpoint of the short course will be demonstrating your cultural reading skills by authoring your own cultural case study. You will get there by working through a collection of online readings, analysing case studies, reviewing concepts through quizzes, and refining your thinking alongside others through discussion forums.
