2020 Cape Town Cycle Tour Information

GWC has registered a team of 10 places in the 2020 Cape Town Cycle Tour.

The purpose of taking part in the event is to raise bursaries for our students. In the last 2 years this team has raised R 50 000 per year which has enabled us to give a student a complete bursary.

If you have already registered as an individual, you can still ride for GWC and turn your ride into a fundraising effort 🙂

What are the criteria for cycling with the GWC team?

  • Entrance fee is R860 per entry.
  • Fundraising requirement for each team member is a minimum of R1000 per person (although we encourage you to aim high for your fundraising goals)
  • We ask that each team member commit to post the team and payment option on their Facebook page and other Social Media platforms to attract as much support as possible.

Why join the GWC Team?

The focus of George Whitefield College is to train hearts, minds and voices for the development of Christian Leadership across Africa. Currently, there are 15 African nations represented at the college, all of whom will apply their theological training to serving in ministry in their churches and community in a full or part time capacity.  Funds raised through your cycle enables students to come and study here.

What does being part of the team involve?

The Cape Town Cycle Tour is the largest, timed cycling event in the world, with 35 000 cyclists riding the stunning 109 km route. Although the race passes through some of the world’s most spectacular scenery including the iconic Table Mountain it is a grueling ride with some challenging climbs and requires considerable commitment and training.

As a member of our team you will:

  • Be added to a what’s app group for training and communication
  • Be invited to team cycling dates, where you can train together
  • Receive a goody bag
  • Be invited to attend a team breakfast that will take place the day before the ride
  • Have the satisfaction of knowing that all your hard work will impact the sharing of the Gospel in Africa.

I want to join the team, what should I do now?

Please send an email to Charmaine Erasmus on cerasmus@gwc.ac.za who will send you bank details to pay for your spot. We cannot reserve your place until you have paid your entry fee to us.
