PURPOSE: George Whitefield College has a Theological Bookshop on campus which is managed by Jane and Stephan Kratz called books4Life. They primarily provide the required and recommended textbooks for students of GWC and other colleges, although many ministers, children’s workers, missionaries and general Christians now source their books through books4Life.

ETHOS: The bookshop was started in March 2004 and has grown to a stock of over 3,000 books that cover in excess of 400 titles. The Bookshop has negotiated significant discounts from certain publishers, distributors and retailers and so prices are typically 30% less than publisher’s’ recommended retail prices and in some cases discounts are even greater. The maximum value that any book will be marked-up by is R60. This means that you get the more expensive books (those with a cost price of R170 or more) at an even greater discount. Bibles are only marked up by 10% to cover basic administrative costs. We endeavour to: Supply students with the right books at the best possible prices! This means that students, staff and others in ministry can purchase more books for their money.

2ND HAND BOOKS and SALES: We have a wide range of very cheap second-hand books (ranging from R2 to R30 and up). Unfortunately because of the high turnover of these books we cannot keep a database of what is in stock. You are welcome to come and browse the shelves or give us a call if there is an area of special interest. Twice a year we have a BIG SALE, mainly of 2nd hand books but also includes selected new books (usually in March and October).

WE CAN SELL YOUR BOOKS FOR YOU: If you have second-hand books to sell, this can be done on your behalf at a small handling commission of 15% (minimum charge R5). Alternatively, you can swap a book for one of equal value for a R5 handling fee.

WE CAN POST IT: If you are unable to visit the bookshop personally, we can post your order to you. Once you have established which books you want, give us a call (or email us) to confirm the price and whether the books you want are in stock. We will give you a price for postage and once we have confirmation of payment (see below) and your postage details, we can post you the books you need. We will them email or sms the tracking number for your parcel and you will get your books within 10 days (or the next day if you want to pay for overnight delivery).
