PRINCIPALS MEET IN GERMANY

GWC's Principal, Dr David Seccombe, was one of 105 principals of evangelical theological colleges of the developing world who gathered 10-14 September in the German village of Dorfweil, near Frankfurt. The purpose was a leadership training exercise sponsored by the Institute for Excellence in Christian Leadership Development, an arm of Overseas Council International. The occasion was the retirement of OCI Vice President, Dr Manfred Kohl, through whose tireless travelling this impressive network has grown to what it is. It was Dr Kohl who in 2001 mediated GWC's entry into the OCI family. Dr Kohl is succeeded by 6 regional directors (Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East & North Africa, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, China and South America), a mark of the extraordinary growth of the network. The African Director is Dr Bill Houston, former Principal of the Evangelical Seminary of South Africa (ESSA). Dr Seccombe comments: "These institutes have been a major factor in motivating us to strive for excellence in the task of preparing people for ministry, and they have also trained and equipped us for success."

REGISTRATION AS PRIVATE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION

After a long and arduous process GWC received notification on 3rd July 2007 that it is now provisionally registered as a private higher education institution in terms of section 54(2)(a)(ii) of the Higher Education Acts 1997, Registration Certificate no. 2007/HE08/002. The right to issue tax deductible receipts for donations in South Africa is now being restored.
